Olay Pro X (1)

First off I want a huge thank you from every single one of my male readers. I have become your almost skinny human grooming Guinea pig. Not to say I don’t like testing and reviewing new products to share with my readers, however my medicine cabinet is now worth more than my closet.

Anyways, during one of my usual Target trip to pick up water and nuts I somehow wondered to the cosmetic aisle… 192.87 dollars later I made it home with this Olay ProX Microdermabrasion Plus Advanced Cleansing System for $44.99.

Believe it or not I have never tried any at home microdermabrasion cleansing systems. Honestly I thought it was just something else extra to waste money on because I feel I can get a better, deeper, thorough, clean with my hands for cheaper.

Although, I now see what the hype is all about with these cleaning systems- they are perfect for the lazy! After a week trying this ProX Microdermabrasion Plus Advanced Cleansing System I can say I don’t see a huge difference but it is refreshing to wash my face with something new.

The Olay ProX system includes a 3 Speed Facial Cleansing System, Microdermabrasion Foam Head, Cleansing Brush Head, Thermal Crystal Polisher (0.68 fl. oz.), Exfoliating Renewal Cleanser (0.68 fl. oz.) and 2 AA Duracell Batteries. Also a diagram of brush weekly usage rotations between cleansing and microdermabrasion.

My Overall Result: Convenience! I like that I was able to just sit in my bathroom on the toilet watching YouTube and let the brush do all the work without getting the sink wet or mirror dirty. Microdermabrasion is known to scrub off the dead and dull surface layers of the skin, stimulating and increase collagen production. So of course I was looking for dramatic improvements in the tone, texture, and color of treated areas. I must admit my face was just as clean, tight and even as my normal hand & product regime. Instead of dampen skin I lathered my face in coconut oil to offset scratching from the beads. Applied the Exfoliating Renewal Cleanser to face then, gently massage on my face for 60 seconds on the top speed. Due to the Thermal Crystal Polisher being rather gentle than scrub, I used it daily.

If you’re looking to add something new to your skincare routine go ahead and get it but I suggest spending 50 bucks at Sephora and get more!

Here’s What Exactly Microdermabrasion Improves:

  • Oily or dull skin
  • Enlarged pores
  • Clogged pores
  • Fine lines
  • Mild acne scars
  • Mild complexion problems (such as uneven pigmentation or poor skin texture)
  • The benefits of microdermabrasion also include enhanced circulation and lymph flow, which promote the internal health of the skin.

Why should men care about microdermabrasion? We shave regularly-  irritations and ingrown hairs are clear signs of an added stress to their skin. The skin damage is caused by the shaving itself, as well as by before and after shaving products. Therefore it’s ideal to keep the skin healthy before and after a scalping.

You’re welcome.

How Do You Detox After A Fat Weekend?

5 Aug

After reading the title of this post I wouldn’t say a “fat-weekend” per say, but after a cheat day being that it’s Wednesday.

Anyone one that’s dieting and dating simultaneously knows it counter productive. Case in point- my current relationship. My boyfriend was off Monday and Tuesday which meant us hanging together both days, granted we managed to get in a 75 minute hot yoga class on Monday and a two hour and thirty minute workout at the gym on Tuesday. However, both days were followed by pizza, Thai food and Braum’s ice cream.

Now cut to me today, he’s finally back at work, I’m sore, hungry, feeling like a bag of laundry and about to hit the restart button on my diet and fitness program for the month. By ‘restart’ I mean my detoxing ritual I do after any binge or diet blunder I may partake in that will hinder me getting to my goal weight.

What my current body-detox consist of: a 24 hour green-tea diet, 10 mile run, 45 min express hot Asana yoga class and a 10-15 sit in the sauna.

However, my detox isn’t only focused on restarting the inside but the outside as well. After any long weekend or late night early morning I wake-up sluggish, bloated and puffy like the rest of you (hard to believe but true). What I usually do along with my body detox is a steam facial, mud masque and scrub however, I was introduced to this new interesting body care company- Mr. Bean.

Mr. Bean Body Care is a company that takes coffee bean and infuse them with other organic skin nutrient ingredients to make a fortifying refreshing skin scrub. The perfect day after detox!

What’s perfect about this product is that it’s perfect for men and women. Strong and effective but produce supple results. For example, the formula I received was the Mandarin $17.95; Robusta coffee beans infused with, organic cold pressed coconut oil, Himalayan pink rock salt, Demerara sugar, organic Cacao and vitamin E oil.

The Benefits:

  • Caffeine will stimulate blood flow and help reduce the appearance of cellulite, eczema, stretch marks, age spots, varicose veins and psoriasis.
  • Demerara Sugar and Himalayan Salt will exfoliate your skin, removing dead skin, acne, whiteheads, blackheads, breakouts and other skin blemishes.
  • Coconut Oil will hydrate and moisturize your skin.
  • Cocoa and Vitamin E are high in antioxidants which nourish and protect the skin, promoting cell repair and rejuvenation.

The smell is just that of grounded coffee beans with a hint of ashes and a nice little sweet after note. The consistency is a bit pasty because of the coconut and vitamin E oil, which is good and as you apply it when wet its a very mentholated product that really open your pares and scrubs very deep without scratching or burning. Let it dry for five minute, wash and voilà!

Afterwards my skin felt soft, deflated and after using it for a week my skin is looking a bit even no thanks in part to my summer farmer’s tan.

I will admit that I don’t drink coffee but I definitely love putting it on my skin and now will including this with my weekly detoxing ritual.

Summer is Skin, Fitness is Full Body So, Skincare is a Workout.

Adovia Dead Sea Salt Scrub 2

I’m here again with another grooming brand review &a tips to add to your gluttony of tools, merchandise and device filled medicine cabinet.

This it the time of year we are to be at our most optimum nude wise, from tight bodies, glowing skin to the right cut of garments to complement the latter two.

One of my new and best results product I’ve added to my manscaping routine is body scrub. Summer is all about going hairless, although in doing so it can reveals some bad skin.

Shaving can produce bumps, revels blotchy skin and old scars however, I have managed to alleviate that worry so all you have to do this summer is continue to worry about your calories burn:calorie intake ratio. Not only that I’m sure all of the working out may have you body sort and you need to find a relief, another reason why body scrubs are just as important as a face scrub (something else I’ve always raving about.)

I’ve been using body scrubs after a fresh shave for about four months now. What I like about doing that is body scrubs are ideal at relaxing and treating the skin after using a hair removal creme or a razor. Using a body scrub keeps my skin from getting irritated and helps removes dead skin cells resulting in even healthy glowing skin. After seeing what a coarse scrub does to my feet and hands after a full mani pedi I noticed that using a body scrub also, deflate swelling and puffiness in my mid section.

Adovia Mineral Skin Care sent a jar of their Dead Sea Salt Scrub for which I was thoroughly satisfied with it.

Before being gifted this product I was using other scrubs from different brands I’ve grown partial to. The success of those made me kind of reluctant to try this brand.

I wasn’t disappointed by the “ocean breeze” scented scrub; its very oily (more oil than salt) but the salt is very fine and allows for generous coverage. Most scrubs are more gritty however, after a shave you need hydration and this scrub gives me that. I like the smell, but to most this smell may be too strong and perfume like, although I usually do a once over with my regular bar of soap so I don’t have that strong scent afterwards. Because of the extra amount of oil you may get it every where and the jar becomes hard to seal tightly, so best to keep it in the shower until gone.

Obviously this product is geared towards women but with guys shaving just as often using something with high quality of sea salt is very beneficial at replenishing minerals which are critical to our skin metabolism.

If you are looking for and “body after shave” of the sorts to both combating stress and fluid retention, slowing skin aging, calming the nervous system, help with muscle stiffness and energizes the body, then give this a try.

Taste Coach: Adonis Wooten-Herron

28 May

Cultivating your specific level of “taste” takes taste-testing, which means subjecting yourself to all different types and levels of desirable offerings. Your standard or grade of taste shouldn’t only come from one medium. There are so much thinpso around us daily as well as, other stylish cultured men who are masters or coaches (in their own right) willing to share their experiences, desires and most savored secrets with us to help build upon our own appreciation.

Many of us are stimulated through our eyes, and though for me writing is not only a huge stress reviler but also, very inspiring sometimes I don’t have the time or interests to read my own writing more over anyone else’s not matter how profound or thinpsiring it may me.

That’s why the world of vlogging (video blogging) has been a skinny God send. It’s saves & kills time, entertains and educates, all the while giving me all the fuel I need to build upon being the best me possible. Vlogging is great at helping informing you about new brands, artists or current events or just giving you that mental pick-me-up that you may need to make it through the day.

One of my new favorite style/lifestyle YouTube channel is one by a guy whom I swear is my doppelganger! He’s gorgeous, slim, lives in Kansas, stylish and a vegetarian like myself that love’s menswear. Can we be more identical besides being actually identical?

In this edition of Taste Coach Series: Adonis Wooten-Herron I finally was able to interview Adonis about his idea of taste and everything about his channel. Check out his offerings.

Processed with VSCOcam with b5 preset
My name is Adonis Wooten-Herron, 21 years old from Kansas. I am currently a senior in college majoring in Marketing with an apparel & textiles minor. Fashion, lifestyle, and just…talking & reaching people has always been passions of mine. I finally stepped out on faith and began my journey on YouTube with my channel AbsolutelyAdonis (corresponding with my Tumblr: Absolutely Adonis) which have been such a significant part of my life within the last year. The name simply describes me: I am and always will be myself and I’m absolutely okay with that and absolutely accepting of that. My overall goal from YouTube is not to become “famous” or be a “celebrity” but to simply give myself a creative outlet and to give people who look like me (and who don’t) a chance to be adequately represented in a space that’s dominated by women and Caucasians. I’m here to share fashion tips, life tips, advice, pretty much everything I can offer I’m here to share with you. Hopefully people feel at home and can take this amazing journey with me and my channel!

How did you get into Vlogging (video blogging)?
AA- I was watching Raven Elyse & Paul Zedrich on YouTube and would always say “I can do this…I can build a channel just like they did..” So, I randomly bought a camera and never looked back. I wanted to see someone who looked like me on YouTube…it’s rare: a black male giving fashion tips and lifestyle advice. I wanted to create/fulfill a lane that wasn’t being utilized.

What would you say your specialty or what you’re most enthused on talking about?
AA- Of all the things I talk about on my channel I get the most excited about my Chatty Vlogs. I talk about everything from identity, race, being yourself, and life in general. I think I prefer those over my fashion and lifestyle videos because they allow me to be real, raw, honest, and allow me to show my passions outside of the stereotypical YouTube “fashion vlogger” framework.

What should readers come to Absolutely Adonis looking to view?
AA- Expect to see a little of everything: Lookbooks, Chatty Vlogs, Health Videos (I’m a vegetarian), College Tips, Money Management, Skin Care Videos, Hauls, Daily Vlogs… you name it. I really pride myself on being a diverse channel, and providing content for everyone to watch. So, If you’re not into fashion then I have health and lifestyle videos…if you’re more into daily vloggers I offer that too. I’m a one stop shop.

What topics do you enjoying recording about the most menswear, grooming or life rants and why?
AA- As far as recording goes I love recording everything. I’m just simply excited to be in front of the camera, it’s freeing and so comfortable for me. Every video I film is enjoyable for me because I honestly am excited to sit down, take a break from my everyday busy life & work and just talk to whoever plans to watch/listen.

What factors most influences your style?
AA- I look a trends and see what’s popular and try to add my own spin to it. Being trendy isn’t a bad thing…it really shows your passion for fashion and the industry. You should always take something so broad and make it your own.

I see that you love doing haul videos, what gets you ampted to spend all your money, lol?
AA- Hahaha! I come from a family that is so good with their money. They save a ton, but they never deny themselves things that make them happy or that will benefit them. I save majority of my money but I love rewarding myself and making myself a priority. If you want to feel good you have to look good, right?

What set your videos apart from other style video bloggers?
AA- I can only speak for myself and my channel but I think I really focus on offering a wide variety of topics and ideas and a consistent uploading schedule. Over the past year I put out 3 videos a week, so I try and focus on consistency, progress, and quality. Also, I’m a black guy pushing his way through a female saturated and majority Caucasian dominated market. I just do this for the fun, the joy, and as a hobby I’m not being fake about it. When you do YouTube just to be “famous” it shows in your videos, and I never want that to happen.

Who is your style inspiration?
AA- Honestly, random photos on Tumblr inspire me the most…it’s weird to say but Tumblr.

Three words to describe your style.
AA- Minimal, Urban-esque, Clean cut.

How do you pick your topics to cover/shoot?
AA- I’ll ask people around me for some ideas lol or look around YouTube to see if I can find something. A lot of the time ideas just pop in my head and I go from there!

How long does it take to tape and edit a video before posting?
AA- It will usually take me about 15-30 minutes to film and 1-2 hours to edit…then 30 or so minutes to re-edit and skim over it…then I post it!

What does “taste” mean to you?
AA- To me taste just refers to your interest and your personal style.

Most savored video you’ve posted?
AA- Omg! There are so many I can’t choose lol.

Most distasteful topics you’ve taped or deleted?
AA- My very first video, God…I wish I could delete it, but there’s just no point…it was wretched!

Favorite place to shop?

Four things you’ve purchased to get you through summer?
AA- Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser. Birkenstocks. Vlog Camera. Asos Short Shorts!

Fashion faux pas you hate that guys do?
AA- Long Nike sock with cargo shorts.

Other YouTubers your follow or ‘thinspire’ you?
AA- Paul Zedrich
Raven Elyse
Nicole G.
Jair Woo
Drew Scott
Vicky Logan

Absolutely Adonis (2)
One thing every guy should come to your channel to learn?
AA- Come to my channel to learn by example how to be the best person you can be. Coming to my channel there’s so much to gain and be exposed to, fashion, skincare, health…all of that. Come to my channel just to have a good time.

What have you noticed negative in the video blogging world?
AA- I learned that everyone has a comment, and not every wants to see you grow. I also, learned that everyone wants to be on YouTube but everyone doesn’t have the passion or the right motives behind what their doing.

Who is your demographic?
AA- I try to keep my videos neutral in content but I think mainly it’s for guys: High school – Up. No specific race targeted. The funny thing about it though is there’s almost an equal amount of females and males subscribed to my channel lol. So, who knows who I’m making videos for anymore!

Positive responses you’ve received.
AA- I received love from Raven Elyse and Paul Zedrich and tons of others that just say that they watch and comment on my videos it just shows me that other bigger YouTubers are noticing my content. I think the best thing though, is the comments from my subscribers, they truly are an amazing support system.

Are you into menswear runway, if so most salivating worthy ss15 collection?
AA- Wang, Acne Studios (FAVE), Givenchy, & McQeen…my lord

Has it been difficult maintaining or building an audience?
AA- I wouldn’t say it’s been difficult, but it’s been a journey. Produce the content you want to produce and people will follow on their own timing.

Where do you want to take your channel?
AA- I want my channel to continue to help me grow as a person. As time progresses videos will get better and more people will subscribe but I think right now I’m just more focused on right now, and just taking it one video at a time!

What is the goal of your videos as a whole?
AA- I want people to laugh, smile, and think when they watch my videos. As long as someone leaves my videos with something they can apply to their lives then, I’m good.

Skincare routine or treatment you can’t go a week without partaking in?
AA- My Daily Skin Care Routine (Summer) video lays it all out in detail!

Grooming habit you refused to break?
AA- MANSCAPING. *drops mic*

-Thanks Adonis for being apart of the series and letting my readers know a bit more about you!

No One Likes Salty Nuts.

Balla Men Powder

Here’’s a simple calorie free, sugar free, gluten free and fat free recipe for your nuts- GROOM YOUR JUNK!

Of course you know what deodorant is for, I would definitely hope so for your sake and the people around you or going down on you sake. After your most intense workout howbeit, before work, midday or before a night out apart from your underarms we have to stop odor and sweat on the other 98 percent of our bodies.

Especially with summer on the horizon it would be awful to spend all that time in the gym during the winter to stink during the summer.

I’m excited that Bálla for Men got me covered!

Bálla for Men Powder is the perfect main ingredient to not only look salivating in your summer looks but smell delectable too. Balla powder is targeted at your junk but works on any number of places. Such as: In your loafers, gym shoes, on your chest, in your shorts, on your hands and on the back of your neck. This greatly scented powder help with clamminess and chaffing in warm weather or during workouts (give you a better grip). The powders come in three different varieties, Original, with an oak/musk scent, Tingle, with a mild mint fragrance, and Fragrance-Free.

I revived the Tingle (100g $17.00) formula, to much pleasure. I mainly keep it in my gym bag but during the winter when I would don my leather pants and it would get a bit too heated the talcum was the prefect relief. It’s a masculine but refine scent that doesn’t just cover up the musk but eliminate it all together leaving a cologne type after smell. The asbestos-free, paraben-free, alcohol and aluminum-free not only helps with smell but keeps me dry.

My bottle is almost empty because apart from the obvious use of the talcum powder I use it as a dry shampoo being that I have dreads, it’s great at removing excess sand after a trip to the beach or park, cool my satin sheets when it get too hot and after Nair-ing my chest/balls/stomach its brilliant at cooling my skin. All I do is sprinkle about tablespoon of powder in my hand and pat onto desired location or simply sprinkle some directly onto my skin.

There’s every reason to be thin this summer but no reason to stink!

But it here! Amazon.com, Grooming Lounge and BirchBox/Men.

Coconut Oil: Super Skinny Food!

21 May

Coconut Oil Benefits (1)
According to every beauty blogger, fashion magazine and my Twitter/YouTube feed Coconut oil is new ultimate “superfood.”

With its unique combination of fatty acids the one true superfood has been proven to have profound positive effects on skin, teeth, hair, dietary functions, cholesterol, blood circulation…but first and foremost WEIGHT LOSS!

I mean, duh why else would I be writing about a food if it can’t make me skinny?! Among the metabolism benefits it has many other great health and beauty gains that may be why you’ve seen it pop up in everything such as, natural moisturizers, soaps, hair shampoo & conditioner, teeth whiteners and don’t forget you can cook with it.

Though, Coconut oil can increase your metabolism, kill your hunger and help your heart & brain. I’m a fan and now a consistent user because of what it does for my skin after a shave as well as, how white it get my teeth as a brilliant antiseptic with it’s powerful disinfectant properties.

I prefer it in the liquid over the solid, it’s less of a waiting game for it to melt however, it’s messier.
Coconut Oil Benefits (1)
When Radha Beauty sent me over a bottle (16 fl oz. $16.89) of 100% Pure Fractionated Coconut Oil I was beyond ready to try it and knew I would be satisfied because of the current items I purchase with coconut oil in it. Fellas, this is ideal to apply after a shave over your regular aftershave (it doesn’t burn), as well as you can use it as a shaving creme by applying a hot towel to your facial hair, saturating the hair in coconut oil, letting it sit then shaving it off. It leaves my skin fully hydrate and even. I’ve also been mixing it with my charcoal face scrub to keep my skin from drying out during my weekly facial overhauls.

This bottle of coconut oil has become my go to from stir-frying to massages. If I don’t use it straight from the bottle I mix in in everything like smoothies, lotions and mouthwash.
Coconut Oil Benefits (4)
This is a multi-purpose product that will boost your current products or replace them all together.
Coconut oil is great at helping with skin hydration and elasticity, defending the skin in aging, sunburn and scarring.

It doesn’t stain, non greasy and odorless. I am a fan of coconut oil in my hair because it helps with breakage, split ends and smelliness. If you’re a runner, dead lifter or squatter I suggest buying a scrub and adding the coconut oil to it. I found that applying it to my feet after a 10 miles run it heals blisters and cracked skin simply by apply to my hands or feet and covering in socks!

Oh, if you’re suffering from dry skin, facial blemishes or an all-nighter I suggest applying a more than generous amount to your face at night before bed and let your skin absorb it overnight. Just watch what happens!

Eatable Skin!

Evian Facial Spray
Every now and again we all need a quick refresh to get back on track to rid ourselves of all the crappy things we partook in on our journey to clean and clear skin-town located right outside svelte village.

This summer are our bodies are to be beach ready and should our skin. In order to pull of these crop-tops, transparent shirt and short shorts our skin have to be just as toned & even as our glutes & biceps.

But with dust, smog and global warming that will be a feat that isn’t beyond your medicine cabinet. Not to mention adding skincare into our work, social and gym schedule is daunting enough. Excluding being outright lazy we have a lot working against our epidermis this season.

Take this afternoon for example, its Saturday; I have to work, run some errands (fit in a haircut) and of course get a workout in if I want to be in slim shape for Saturday night’s festivities. With my always “on-the-go” attitude I rarely have time to stop and repeat my entire morning or nightly facial regime.

If you’ve been following me long enough you should know and come to rely on the fact that I’m always seeking out clean skin alternative for the fellas even if its targeted towards women. Women have all the easy fixes for their skin however, the ultimate unisex skincare remedy for men and women is water. Water hydrates, clean and protects our skin.

It’s been proven this water control our calories, energize our muscles and help our kidneys. Water is the real super-food, if you can call it a food (I know I do).

Albeit, as strong and versatile water it’s just as powerful for fighting dehydration, aging and acne on our skin. Rather you’re having a long day, can’t stop at home to freshen up or need a quick grooming prep after the gym just as convenient water in a bottle has been to us, them same applies for water in a can.

I received a can of Evian Facial Spray (5 fl.oz. $12.50) from the company originally introduced in France in 1962 at the request of doctors for use on burn patients. It was the first facial water spray in France and was introduced as the first facial spray in the United States in 1978. Because of the current world-wide awareness of the Evian brand name, and the 36 year efforts of the USA exclusive distributor (The Wilkes Group Inc. in Old Lyme, CT), Evian is the only facial spray to be carried by many prestige retail groups including Nordstrom and Sephora. It is also offered in common places like Walgreens, Wal-Mart and Amazon.com.

Predominantly known to refresh and revitalize women’s makeup, I found this to be an awesome midday treatment for me too!

The ph neutral spray works on all skin types to moisturize, hydrate and tone the skin for that extra boost of healthy radiant skin to help you make it the second half of the day.

You can put it in your gym bag, desk or overnight knapsack for instant results. Apart from simply refreshing the skin I found this spray to help restore my pH balance, control my oily skin, help continue to moisturize and prevent ingrown hairs. All it contains is water! I wouldn’t recommend this being your only source of skincare but it sure will aid in skincare needs.

I would say this product is for the guy who care about his skin but just haven’t the time in his schedule and its perfect for summer as an instant cool down.

Skin so instantly supple and juicy its bite worthy!
