À la carte

We are only truly alone when were are dead. As morbid as it sounds this for me and hopefully for you reading this is reassurance as to not look at your current solitary situation so bad. With all the wonders of social media it may seems like everyone is out having the time of their lives while you’re just sitting home wishing you had friends like them, the money and the cool places around town to explore and capture. Even when we are going through personal struggles, because we may not have someone to take the burden away or nothing more than hear us vent we aren’t as alone as it seems.

It’s all about exhausting your resources and asking yourself “are you putting out what you want to receive.” The only way to have support is to create it, be more open, say hello and definitely get over yourself!

It wasn’t until my late twenties that I realize people are going through the same thing as I am (family, school, relationships and financially) but the only way I knew that was to spark conversations and cultivate relationships. This not only help me harvest life long relationships but make sense of my struggles and sometimes find resolutions.

Stop being the party pooper or the “strong one” and get active. Show the world who you are even if it means going at it alone because I’m quite sure you’ll finish with a group. Don’t be afraid to tell people how you feel, ask if you can tag along or simply put yourself out there. Use social media to your advantage, don’t just scroll; comment and like as well as, share your thoughts and opinions. Rekindle those friendships that only need a hello to ignite.

To be alone is a choice one makes themselves. I enjoy meeting new people and exploring new links. Get out the house, off your computer and into some adventure. You don’t have to be doing something over the top, it could be as simple a picking up the phone to call a friend back or check up on a family members and when you plan those vain visits you make with people you run into– follow through.

Even in the graveyard you’re buried next to someone.
