If you have been following my blog or know me in real life you’d know that my all time favorite designers are Dean & Dan Caten. These guys are perfection to me. They are thin, gorgeous and magicians with a needle and thread. Showing on the last night of Milan Menswear Fall/Winter 2013-14 Men’s Fashion Week, one thing we all know about these lean guys’ aesthetic is that they love a hot stridden school boy and this collection didn’t astray from their formula. Sticking with the retro 40’s-50’s concept from the Dsquared2 spring/summer 13 collection the garments presented we’re dapper, upbeat and Rat Pack cool.
From street to evening-wear everything about this collection is magnificent. The detailing alone is beyond filling. Opting for baggier high cut denim it worked with the ultra fitted jackets, slightly exaggerated hats and dope worker boots. Dean & Dan know how to go back in time while being current yet somehow fashion forward. Overall, what I got from the collection was a mix of these movies; “Coolie High,” “Harlem Nights” and just a slight hint of “A Soldier’s Story” I also saw a little Motown reminisce in the looks.
This entire show had my adrenalin pumping I was up early this morning after yoga full speed on the treadmill imaging myself in each look. This collection is perfect. They even booked my ultimate favorite male model David Agbodji with an all black casting of some notable and budding über skinny sexy models. The only critique I could give about this show is maybe the models could’ve had walking lessons. Just check out these looks.
